Green Spirits Healing Executive Director, Kelly Davis, visits Oregon

By Sevananda Carolus, IHP

It was a week etched into my memory, a tapestry of vibrant moments woven with friendship, adventure, and healing. Kelly Davis, my dear friend and visionary executive director, had come all the way from Arizona, her spirit eager to embrace the lush forests and rugged coastlines of Oregon. As her guide, I felt a deep sense of responsibility and excitement, knowing that this journey would be a profound experience for both of us.

From the moment Kelly arrived, the weather seemed to conspire in our favor! Clear skies, a warm but gentle breeze, and a sun that cast a golden glow over everything. It was July moving into August, and the air was perfectly temperate, neither too hot nor too cool, just enough to make every step feel like a blessing. I love living in Oregon, and sharing this land’s wild beauty with Kelly made it even more special. We set out early each day, eager to explore the vastness of this incredible place, immersing ourselves in its natural wonder.

Our days began with eating hundreds of dollars’ worth of Himalayan blackberries, their sweet, juicy flavor bursting on our tongues and staining our fingertips a deep, regal purple. The berries were plump and ripe, the kind that make your mouth water and your fingers sticky, a delicious mess we happily embraced as we wandered. The blackberry harvest was a ritual, each handful more succulent than the last, a gift from the wild that fueled our adventures.

After our morning feast, we wandered through towering forests where ancient Douglas firs, big leaf Oak, and moss-draped red Cedars reached toward the sky like nature’s skyscrapers. The scent of damp earth, pine, and fresh leaves filled our lungs, invigorating us. We often paused to be mindful or meditate along the Mary’s River, settling on a soft patch of moss or log, closing our eyes to tune into the symphony of chirping birds, rustling leaves, and distant waves crashing. Those quiet moments of reflection nourished our spirits and deepened our connection to the earth’s gentle rhythm.

Often, as we moved deeper into the wilderness, the kaleidoscope of flora around us was mesmerizing. Wild roses spilled their intoxicating fragrance into the breeze, while bright crimson Indian paintbrush added splashes of color to the landscape. I pointed out medicinal plants—comfrey with their broad, hairy leaves, and wild rosehips bursting with vibrant scarlet berries. We collected ripe blackberries from thorny bushes, our fingertips staining a deep purple, sticky and sweet. We laughed at our berry-stained fingers, sharing stories and savoring the simple pleasure of harvesting nature’s gifts.

The week unfolded with enchanting discoveries, hiking along waterfall trails, giving us pure prana, clean air, a fresh feeling, as if we could do anything! We adventured, destination unknown, always finding the most incredible spots. Including a rope swing hanging over the Alsea River. It took a little convincing, but I got Kelly on that swing, and I have the pictures to prove it!

The Oregon coast was like a second home, where the mighty waves of the Pacific pounded against cliffs, sending sprays of salty mist over the rocks. We paused often, soaking in the breathtaking views, feeling the vastness of the ocean mirror the limitless potential of friendship and nature’s boundless beauty. The weather was perfect, just warm enough to bask in the sun, yet cool enough to keep us energized, making every moment feel alive and vibrant. We sat where a river flowed into the sea, merging harmoniously.

We simply sat in peaceful silence in various spots, soaking in the moment as the sun shimmered on the water and seagulls cried overhead. These peaceful, still moments of just being together deepened our bond, allowing us to feel fully present with one another. Kelly, always thoughtful, brought along her homemade CBD oil. This product is powerful, clean, and infused with love. She gifted me a small jar of 1000 mg of pure healing CBD infused olive oil. I could feel the potency and care poured into each drop, a natural remedy that truly nurtures the body and soul.

A beautiful outcome of Kelly’s visit was when my dear friend Heather, suffering from persistent back pain, tried Kelly’s CBD oil. Her face lit up with relief as she marveled at its healing power. Kelly’s products are crafted with integrity, clean, potent, and made with love. I could sense the genuine intention behind each ingredient, a testament to Kelly’s commitment to wellness and healing.

As our week drew to a close, the sunsets painted the sky with hues of orange and pink, sealing our memories in a kaleidoscope of colors. I felt an overwhelming gratitude for the experience, an adventure of friendship, discovery, and healing woven into every moment.

And I leave you with this haiku, a reflection of the bond Kelly and I share:

Friendship in bloom

Kelly’s love like forest leaves

Roots deep, hearts entwined

Be blissful!
